This note is considering finding your courage to create something different to anything you’ve ever done. Why not? It doesn’t take a lot of research to tell us when we do something out of our normal expectations our brain starts firing light synapses in areas normally darkened. I remember learning how to code in 1986. A derivative of C++. It was an entirely new language to many back then, and as a young school girl I remember thinking “not that different to Latin once you figured out the root”. 🙂
Am I a good coder? Absolutely not. Can I usually tell if code is clean or hatched together by other bad coders? Yes. And was it fun to know I could code and actually leave to be a rather good coder if I wanted/needed to. Yes!
With summer days looming for many around the world, I really encourage all, especially girls, to learn something weird like programming. Even for one summer. I promise you, you’ll never forget it and it will become useful at some point. Even if it’s that story of you learning it for one summer that got you a job because you are interesting and curious. Why not?

Then send it in and I’ll look at it.
